To strengthen our team at Woodsmith Mine in Whitby, North Yorkshire, we are currently looking for a QC Officer (Civils). You are responsible for the daily monitoring and finishing requirements of all outbound products and materials.

Part of time is spent in an office environment; most of the time is spent making numerous site visits above and underground workplaces.

  • Maintaining and calibrating measuring equipment to various testing standards.
  • Performing inspection and testing activities of incoming materials and finished products in accordance with company procedures to determine that they meet a certain standard.
  • Perform an inspection of precision components and assemblies to customer drawings and specifications – visual inspection of products before and after operations are completed and detect any non-conformances or non-compliant parts.
  • Filling out and maintaining proper paperwork.
  • Questioning the nature of defects and providing future solutions.
  • Comparing finished products to original patents.
  • Ensure the adherence of all policies and procedures concerning quality are maintained and report all non-conformances to the Quality Superintendent.
  • Effectively communicate quality issues to the QC Superintendent for immediate correction to ensure that all products meet customer specifications.
  • Adhere to all quality and regulatory compliance procedures.Maintaining and calibrating measuring equipment to various testing standards.

  • Adhere to all quality and regulatory compliance procedures.
  • Having the authority and responsibility to stop and correct, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor.
  • Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e. Lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
  • 3 years experience gained within a quality/inspection background.
  • Civils Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Quality Control Qualification (ISO9001 Lead Auditor).
  • Mining/Tunnelling/Rail background would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of concrete mix designs/concrete curing.
  • Computer Literate (Microsoft Office).
  • Effective Communication Skills.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Capable of producing high quality written material both on a computer and by hand.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety on a construction site.
  • The ability to follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures is essential.
